Skulls, Skulls, everywhere Skulls
With Halloween right around the corner you start seeing more and more skull merchandise about town. I always use this time to stock up. Although it’s not too uncommon to see skulls year round these days, it seems all the best skull items come out now. happy delusions is no exception to the rule. We have so many skulls in the shop, I love seeing them everywhere I turn. Rhinestone skull earrings and necklace’s, Etched skull glass Martini shakers, shot glasses, and drinking glasses, skull rugs, blankets, and bags. Skull figurine’s, bracelets, prints, and pens.
Chocolate Dreamzzz
Ramona and Tonette are two of the nicest ladies you will ever meet. Their personality comes across strong in thebeautiful vibrate world of “Chocolate Dreamzzz”. If your tired of the same ol thing, and are looking for home decor like you’ve never seen, you need to see what these women can do. I have no idea where Ramona gets all her fabric, but sign me up. She must have a ball mixing all the great colors around to create amazing quilts, table runners, pillow cases, and decorative rose buds. Tonette is the painter of this duo. Her “Nappy Head” framed art is my favorite. Everything these ladies do is very ethnic in flavor, which is so hard to find. People across the board are drawn in by the color, and natural appeal for something different. These Women get an A+ from me for knowing their audience and hitting a market that is too often ignored. They have been featured in happy delusions since we opened in the fall of 2007. Come by and see what they have, and definitely come meet them at one of the open houses they do. You will feel like one of the family almost immediately.
All about Renton
If you haven’t noticed the “all about Renton” link on the side of my blog yet, please take the time and check it out. Lynar does a great job getting info. out into the web whenever an event is happening in this town. She is out and about almost every day with her son visiting parks, museums, shops, and restaurants and writing all about it on her blog, www.allaboutrenton.wordpress.com.
Being that Lynar is not a native of Washington, when she moved here last year she made a point to get out there and find all the fun. I find that she’s more in the know about Renton than most the locals.
She’s also started a calander of events on her page, so please check it out and send her a note if you have an event to add. Odd’s are you’ll see her around Renton and possibly at your next social function.
Lynar and I have been getting together on Mondays now for the last couple of months. Not only is Lynar great at getting info. out to everyone in Renton who’s looking for something to do, she’s also a great motivator. She’ll disagree, but man, she won’t let me just sit and enjoy my time with her. She’s always putting me to work. Thank god. If she wasn’t around I would still be tryin to organize my new kitchen, still procrastinating putting up my awesome birch tree wall mural, and most importantly I wouldn’t be running. We started that this week, and you will be getting updates as the pound drop and we look hotter and hotter and the weather gets colder and colder.
So check her page out, and keep up the good work Lynar!

Pretty in Punk
I’ve been a knitter for years. You know, the usual, scarfs, hats, clutches, and the occasional jacket. Nothing too exciting, other than the fact that I love it. I have been so scared to try felting. The thought of putting all that work into a project that may not turn out after felting freaks me out man. Yet finally I found a project to get me over the hump. A totally radical, punk, mohawk felted hat. I got the pattern from “Pretty in Punk” a book of knitted projects for the punk in all of us. I salute these hip knitters for putting out a book for us who love to knit, but are desperate for patterns that speak to our wild side. Untraditional flavor, put on traditional knitted items. This is by far their best. hence why it was put on the cover. You can also go to their website, www.knit-head.com to see a bunch of different styles and baby mohawk hats. I can’t wait to make one of these for my niece as she’s about to turn 1, and would be the perfect model. I just need to figure out size because shirkage occurs during the felting process. If you are planning on being in LA, you can pick one of the baby mohawks up at Fred Segal, so soon every celebrity child will be wearing one.
I know what your thinking. I look so cool in my hat. What I’m goin for is a hard core rocker who’s screaming into a microphone on stage as my adoring fans go nuts in the crowd at my sold out concert. You have to visualize with me. Then you will grow to understand that I’m totally a bad-ass mofo. Word.
My Cousin Vinnie
Yes I really do have a cousin Vinnie. That’s him above. Not only is he an uber cool, unicorn lovin freak. He’s also the lead guitarist in our band, “Beach Logs Kill”. And he makes awesome clocks, plates and bowls out of recycled records. Vinnie looks for only the funky colored records, and artists that people are looking for.
I use my “Heart” bowl as a planter. It’s perfect because it already has a hole in the bottom for drainage. The “Def Leopard” one I use as a candy dish, so everyone can be stoked on the label. So much talent, and only 18. Hopefully he’ll continue to pursue his artistic side without letting the world harden his spirit. Right now in the shop Vinnie has a bunch of albums that are green, yellow, and blue. Very fun. Keep it up Vin. And Rock on!
