Poe & More…….

Mike has been an artist in the shop for about a year now and we just heart him so much. Not only is he a wonderful Dad to his baby and side-kick he also happens to be a very busy artist. Most of his work is of a darker Monster vintage. This Edgar Allen Poe Painting is my favorite although mostly he features many classic Frankenstein paintings and some that have been femmed up a little too. Everything from necklaces, patches, magnets, onesies, tee’s, and mirrors. definitely something for the Monster inside us all. Mike moved to Seattle by way of Ohio with his lovely wife a couple years back and we are happy to have such an amazing artist and person here with us in the shop. Mike’s work can also be found at other boutiques throughout the Seattle area including Diamond Tattoo right here in Renton.

Mujuworld

So today I want to introduce to you all an amazing website I LOVE! Mujuworld is an amazing group of peeps based out of England who make incredible handmade toys. You all know by now that I’m a freak for felt art of any kind. These guys take the cake in my book for the most outstanding craftsmanship and innovative design. I love just getting lost on there site, and check out there flickr as well. I love their flickr page  because not only is their product amazing, but so is the way they highlight them through photography. Making a living from ones creative spirit takes work, and team Muju seems to have it down. Good work! The photo’s I’ve posted are from their Astral series. As a side note to all my friends, any of these would make a great present for me and are all on sale on the website. wink.

Warped World of Toys

Kristi Hand is an amazing artist. Some of the things she comes up with just blow me away. I have a weird fascination with anything to do with the mutilation of the barbie doll. Don’t get me wrong, I loved playing with barbie when I was a kid and I can openly acknowledge that she is a mega hottie. Yet something about seeing her in a not so pretty way is so appealing to that I just can’t turn away. This picture here is my favorite from Ms. Hand. It’s entitled “Unhinged”. She currently has all of her “Warped World of Toys” on display at happy delusions, including the ever popular “Praying Mantis”, highlighting a multi-body Tiger Woods bobblehead eating what appears to be ice-cream cones with different ladies in them.  Wonder Women also makes a couple of appearances, and pigs can be seen throughout, as well as buckets of doll parts. Aww the mind of an artist. I love what comes out, but sometimes I wonder if Kristi just needs a hug.

Embroidered Hug & Kiss

Emily Peacock Tapestry is an amazing embroidery site featuring all original embroidery kits by Emily Peacock. Talk about an amazing talent. These Hug and Kiss embroidered pillows are happiness double dipped in awesome. Thank you Emily for creating such amazing pillows for the world can enjoy.

Don’t have time (or the desire) to make one yourself? Check out here Etsy store. There you can purchase finished product from the master hands herself.

Tomorrow in UnDisCoVerEd!

That’s right! It’s finally here, UnDisCoVerEd. I am so excited to hear Cock & Swan play songs from their new vinyl that I heart mucho.  Sweet Secrets is in the line up as well, and I just can’t wait to watch the super sexy drummer Corey Knafelz do his thang, and hopefully flirt with me a little too. Then, of course, I don’t want to miss our local Renton boy, Kerry Zettel, rock out with his band, See Me River, who I hear is AWESOME! The Renton Reporter did a story on him and our UnDisCoVerEd event matter of fact, you can view that here.  Young Lions has played once before in Renton at the Upper Room, and I missed out, but not this time. I will be there all day starting with our crafters at 2pm. It all goes down tomorrow May 15th from 2-11 at Harambee in DTR. Spotlight dance will be performing inbetween the music line-up, and nothing in Renton would be complete without the appearance of Liberty Cafe owner and mega hottie Mike Moskowitz, who will be keeping us all well caffeinated throughout the day. Remember this is a benefit show for Childhood Cancer Sucks.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. You can purchase them right now at brown paper tickets.com, or here at happy delusions, and of course from Nich down at Tyrannosaurus Records. And When you see Nich tomorrow be sure to say thank you for being so cool and for all the work he does to bring live music to Renton.

More fun with felt

So my first art showing last Friday was a huge success! Yeah! I can’t believe I even sold out half the show! Totally cool! And a very special thank you to Lady P of The Picaroon for posting a pre-show preview to get people down to the show, and to Celeste Gracey of the Renton Reporter for the wonderful post performance review that appeared on the Rentonreporter.com today. All the coverage has been great and very encouraging. Thanks to you all. Please hit on the above links to enjoy more photo’s, and enjoy what is posted here as well.

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all you wonderful Mom’s out there. Don’t forget to stop in and get your goods, you know your Mom deserves it. And if your an under-appreciated Mom (which you probably are since all Mom’s are under -appreciated) come in and treat yourself to something special because you really do deserve it. Yeah Mom’s !

Fun Felt Forest

At tomorrow nights First Friday Block Party not only will the amazing work of Kristi HAND be taking over my window’s with her “World of Warped Toys”, but she is also going to be bringing in pieces from Little HAND’s School of Art. My Fun Felt Forest will be being displayed next door at Liberty Cafe, and both shows will remain up for the remainder of the month. This will mark the first time I have ever showed my own art in a show setting. I am super nervous, and ready to go! I can feel myself breaking all the rules I give to other artist and am really trying to take my own awesome advise, but when it’s your own, it’s such a different experience. I’m lovin it. I have been is such a creative space and couldn’t be happier with the results. More pictures to follow after tomorrow, but if you get a chance, come on down. 5-9, we will be having wine, and serving samples of NellieLynn’s Gourmet Cheesecake, and listening to live music from DJ Phil Anthony. 924 S. 3rd St., Renton, WA. 98057. Hope to see you there.
