Collected Junk by Zac Freeman

"Kathy" 2010

Zac Freemanstarted making assemblage artworks of this type in 1999. Not only do I find this to be totally RAD, but the artworks are made entirely out of collected junk, found objects, and general trash. Gluing the bits of junk to a wooden substrate to form an image, usually faces, which only can be seen at a distance. Zac is interested in communicating through visual representation in apparent 2-dimensional space and through the actual objects used for the medium in 3-dimensional space.

"David" 2010

“It is very important to me that I incorporate the actual objects into the art as opposed to a picture or rendition of it because it better expresses the intention of the artwork. I feel the junk is more powerful being present. It is an actual thing to be reckoned with that existed in this time and place and carries energy in and of itself.” - Zac Freeman

Illustrator Petra Borner

Swedish artist, illustrator and designer Petra Borner is well known for her beautiful cut paper collages. Growing up in the 70′s has had a huge influence on the work we see from her today. Simple, Dreamy, and Bold. What can I say, I love her work. Petra started as an animator / Illustrator, but her work can now be found on stationary, fabrics, and ceramics from major companies all across the globe. Obviously very busy, and I’m happy for it because this chic here has a hard time taking her eyes off the beauty.
