Show description:

This show’s focus will be based on Barbie and her dream world. Love her or hate her she’s here to stay, and she means different things to different people. We want to see what Barbie does for you.

Prospectus:

Your work does not need to be narrative but should reflect a Barbie theme. Your work can be on the sweet side or a darker interpretation, maybe even comical. Have fun with it! Please nothing overtly sexual or violent, tasteful artistic nudity is acceptable. All mediums will be accepted, traditional wall art, sculpture, fiber art, plush etc…artists will be limited to 3 pieces per person, but please note that we may only accept one of the three. The sale commission is 40%.

This is a juried show.

We will start accepting submissions Thursday, March 1st. The last day to submit will be Friday, April 13^th 2012.
Accepted artists will be notified by email Friday April 20th. A list of exhibiting artists will be posted on our Facebook page, as well as on the happy delusions blog: happydelusions.wordpress.com

If accepted you work will need to be displayed / hang ready when dropped off at happy delusions.
Load in: Tuesday, May 1^st and Wednesday May 2^nd from 11-6
Load out: Thursday, May 31^st 11-6
Details on Load In / Out will be sent out with acceptance into the show.

Insurance: Although every precaution will be taken to insure the safety and security of accepted art, please be aware that pieces are submitted at your own risk happy delusions does not insure submitted work against theft or damage.

 

Opening reception is Friday May 4th 5 – 9 pm. Wine and light snacks will be provided.

Show description:

This show’s focus will be based on your Thinking Cap. Throughout our entire life’s we’ve all been told to put them on. I have always imagined mine to be quite massive. Think you have an amazing one? Well share it with the world.

Prospectus:

Your work does not need to be narrative but should reflect the theme. Think the world of imagination! Only you can see your thinking cap, but its magic extents out to all. Light bulbs, wires, electricity, helmets and all wearable headgear. Your work can be on the brainy side or a weirder interpretation, maybe even comical? Have fun with it! Please nothing overtly sexual or violent, tasteful artistic nudity is acceptable. All mediums will be accepted, traditional wall art, sculpture, fiber art, plush etc…artists will be limited to 3 pieces but please note that we may only accept one of the three. The sale commission is 35%. This is a juried show.

If accepted you’re work will need to be displayed / hang ready when dropped off at happy delusions. The cut off date for accepted works to be in for display is Sunday August 28th, and work can be dropped off during business hours. Please call me, Mary at happy delusions if you will need to make any special arrangements regarding your piece /pieces. Opening reception is Friday September 2nd 5 – 9 pm. Renton Annual Art Show

2009 Winner

The Renton Annual Art Show is a not for profit all volunteer organization that runs in conjunction with the Annual Renton River Days Festival the week of July 19th – July 25th. The show features artists from all over the Northwest. This is the first year the organization has gone green. That means all the publicity has been done online this year. Way to do your part guys!

Registration starts this Sunday, July 18th from 11am – 4pm. at the Renton Community Center located at 1715 SE Maple Valley Hwy, Renton WA. 98057.

Anyone can enter, all work must be original, for sale, and not more than 2 years old. It must be framed and ready to hang by wire only. There are 3 separate galleries, and all will be shown and on display thru Sunday July 25th at the Community Center. The main gallery is $10 per entry, the little gallery is $6 per entry, and the student gallery is only $1 per entry. Please click here for an application and more information.

My friend Britt was the winner in last years show. I’ve posted her piece here. She was nice enough to let me use the picture for this blog and has informed me that we will have to wait til the 2011 Art Show to see more of her amazing work. As much as I would love to see her submit something this year, I do understand that genius can’t be rushed.

Fun Felt Forest

At tomorrow nights First Friday Block Party not only will the amazing work of Kristi HAND be taking over my window’s with her “World of Warped Toys”, but she is also going to be bringing in pieces from Little HAND’s School of Art. My Fun Felt Forest will be being displayed next door at Liberty Cafe, and both shows will remain up for the remainder of the month. This will mark the first time I have ever showed my own art in a show setting. I am super nervous, and ready to go! I can feel myself breaking all the rules I give to other artist and am really trying to take my own awesome advise, but when it’s your own, it’s such a different experience. I’m lovin it. I have been is such a creative space and couldn’t be happier with the results. More pictures to follow after tomorrow, but if you get a chance, come on down. 5-9, we will be having wine, and serving samples of NellieLynn’s Gourmet Cheesecake, and listening to live music from DJ Phil Anthony. 924 S. 3rd St., Renton, WA. 98057.
