Novembeard

I can't get enough! This kid is too darn cute in his little beard by laura design on Etsy.

Ah Novembeard. The slightly less well known cousin of Mustache March, and also two of my favorite months. Yes I believe it has something to do with all the fun hairy faces men, and yes sometimes women too, running around with awesome facial hair. Here’s to you Novembeard.

Tie purses and more…

I am loving these tie purses by Trizanh. Anh has traditionally done knit purses, and recently started experimenting with more. Although I do love her knit purses, The tie ones just stand out a little more for peeps needing that extra flair of personality by way of accessories. Anh’s beautiful knit bags are a perfect size for a night on the town and have nice soft colors that match the smooth texture of the yarn. Either way you really can’t go wrong because all of her items are made with lots of love and attention. She lines all her purses and with nice fabrics that compliment the outside. She even goes as far as to include nice cell phone pockets. What a nice lady.

Stitch & Bitch

Finally a place for us in Renton to come together and bitch with some hip peeps like yourself. Weather it’s Knitting, Crocheting, Needlepoint, Crewel, Latch-hook or just good ol’ fashion Bitchin, you are welcome to come join us. Every Sunday 1-5pm @ happy delusions in the heart of DTR. This Sunday, March 14th will mark the first one, and we will continue on from there. There will be some people here to help you learn if that’s what you need. We will also have some yarn, needles, and hooks to help get you started until you can get your own. It’s gonna be the hottest thing to hit Renton!

Valentine Choices

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is upon us and you really should get something for that special someone. A card from one of our local card makers is a simple way to say, “Hey, I think you’re swell, even though I’m not really into this cheesy holiday, I didn’t want you to think I didn’t remember”. We have ton’s of cute vintage cards with a modern flare, like the one pictured here by Jane Hashash.  You can also go for the traditional Flowers and Candy which Deb at “Girlfriends” would happily put together a bouquet for you while you shop for all the fun candies we have decorated for the occasion by Ms. Magoo & Lou. These Bee’s reading “Bee Mine” happen to bee my favorite of their’s. Then you can head into Liberty Cafe for a non-threatening coffee date, or up to Common Ground Coffee and Cupcake for one of their Valentine cupcakes.

Of course we don’t want to forget those who have loved us from the get go either. We also have great gifts for your Mom, Dad, Best Friend, Grandma, etc. These are my favorite by Ms. Lady P.  As nothing says love like keeping someones feet toasty warm.

Yarn Bombing!!

Yarn Bombed Tree

Yarn Bombed Tree

On Monday two Guerrilla Knitters from Renton went out and participated in a world wide Yarn Bombing! The goal was to knit or crochet a cozy onto sometime. These two ladies decided on the tree outside my shop. It was awesome. The tree looked great and all kinds of people came out to help and watch. I personally had 3 people tell me that seeing the tree made their day, as it did mine. About an hour in, the parks dept came by and let the bombers know they had to remove all yarn and was incredible rude about the whole thing. the two ladies were calm and decide a few picture were in- order first. “The Man” left claiming that he’d be back in an hour and everything better be cleaned up. After reviewing the consequences the artists decided this way there form of art in action and really had brought the community together to talk over the last hour. No, no they would not remove they’re contribution to the arts of downtown, instead they bounced on out of there. All day people were admiring and adding to the peace bombed yarn tree. Sadly, it was taken down by authorities at 9am the next day. But not before making the top post on grrl + dog blog spot. It’s still number one, check it out here http://www.dneese.blogspot.com, tons of yarn bombers all over the globe participated and this tree is definitely one of the best. Go there to see more photo’s, also check out http://www.madlycreative.blogspot.com to learn more. I even think it popped up on http://www.allaboutrenton.wordpress.com. So no fear my guerrilla knitters of Renton, you may have been caught, but how fun and your message will live on forever in the world wide web. Hold your sticks proud ladies!

Monica Burnett found me by way of handmade galleries in Sherman Oaks. It would be an understatement to say I was thrilled to have her hats in my shop. They are up there as being some of the funkiest things I’ve ever scene. Each one made for the individual who has no problem expressing themselves. There is no way you can where one of these bad boys and not feel like a total rock star. Monica’s hip ware’s have been scene in such shows as “Zoey 101″ and featured in a number of magazines. For more info. on that and to see more of the hats and headbands check out her website at http://www.monicaburnetthats.com, her blog at http://www.monicaburnett.blogspot.com, or her myspace at http://www.myspace.com/monicaburnetthats. You will be so happy you did.

HAPPY TOFURKEY!

Here’s hoping everyone out there has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Try and keep it low stress and remember what you are thankful for. This year I’m thankful to spend the whole day with myself. I went to the grocery on Monday thinking I would beat the rush, but no. Still, I got the Tofurkey, potatoes for mashing, corn, stuffing, and all the ingredients to make a killer vegan pumpkin pie. I plan on cooking all morning, setting up a nice bed for myself on my living room floor, getting my laptop all ready and watching movie on it all day while I eat and knit. Aaww, relaxation here I come. Riding solo is a new experience for me, being that I’ve always spent the day with family or friends, but this year it’s MY day. Maybe I should pick up some wine. :)
