More fun with felt

So my first art showing last Friday was a huge success! Yeah! I can’t believe I even sold out half the show! Totally cool! And a very special thank you to Lady P of The Picaroon for posting a pre-show preview to get people down to the show, and to Celeste Gracey of the Renton Reporter for the wonderful post performance review that appeared on the Rentonreporter.com today. All the coverage has been great and very encouraging. Thanks to you all. Please hit on the above links to enjoy more photo’s, and enjoy what is posted here as well.

Valentine Choices

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is upon us and you really should get something for that special someone. A card from one of our local card makers is a simple way to say, “Hey, I think you’re swell, even though I’m not really into this cheesy holiday, I didn’t want you to think I didn’t remember”. We have ton’s of cute vintage cards with a modern flare, like the one pictured here by Jane Hashash.  You can also go for the traditional Flowers and Candy which Deb at “Girlfriends” would happily put together a bouquet for you while you shop for all the fun candies we have decorated for the occasion by Ms. Magoo & Lou. These Bee’s reading “Bee Mine” happen to bee my favorite of their’s. Then you can head into Liberty Cafe for a non-threatening coffee date, or up to Common Ground Coffee and Cupcake for one of their Valentine cupcakes.

Of course we don’t want to forget those who have loved us from the get go either. We also have great gifts for your Mom, Dad, Best Friend, Grandma, etc. These are my favorite by Ms. Lady P.  As nothing says love like keeping someones feet toasty warm.

Madly Creative

The Madly Creative mastermind Lady P has recently started selling these amazing bags in the shop. And being that she is great with the camera, I figured I’d just set up the link to her blog so you can check them all out. For there is no way I could possible do them justice any other way.

Meet the Blogger

Mrs. Heimlich Mortimer came ready to play as the offical monitor of Renton Blog's. She was there, as always, to tell you point blank how it is.

Mrs. Heimlich Mortimer came ready to play as the official monitor of Renton Blog's. Representing for Lady P of The Picaroon.

The “Meet the Blogger” idea came from Rich Zwicker, Renton City Council Member, and writer of the Renton 425 Blog. According to him at the height of today’s meeting 712 people were counted in attendance, or maybe it was 25 people each with multiple personalities.

I was most excited about meeting “Renton Ben”, and he was surprisingly very nice and even (dare I say it) happy. Ben is definitely the most controversial of the commentators that read and respond to most of the Renton Blogs. He says he doesn’t create his own blog because he doesn’t have much to say about Renton. I think I disagree, but all in all, good to put a face to the Roman figure he uses online. And of course Freakazoid Freddy is always nice to run into with all his wit and charm, you really can’t help but like the guy. You can read what he has to say at http://rentonhipster.blogspot.com.

I finally got a chance to officially meet Randy Corman, also a city council member, who writes a community journal. Very informative and up to date. Read his words at http://randycorman.livejournal.com, and his son Andy has all the Bloggers logged up to Renton Journal here at www.rentonjournal.com.

And of course Ms. Lynar of www.allaboutrenton.wordpress.com, and Liz Stewart from our history museum were representing as well as an appearance from Mayor Denis Law, and city council member Marcie Palmer.

Good work, and a thank you to Rich for putting this on. Always nice to get people in the community together to chat and come up with new ideas.

The Picaroon

For all your Renton garrrr-sop.

For all your Renton garrrr-sop.

If you live in or around Renton, or are planning a trip to the area you absolutely must check out “The Picaroon”. Lady P as she refers to herself is the “Mistress of the blog”. She’s very local and truly cares about the community and the people in it. Every time I visit The Picaroon (which, if you didn’t know as I didn’t, means pirate) there is a new post. Sometimes she post several times a day AND she has a second more personal blog that is also updated regularly.  Lady P takes beautiful photo’s and really gets in touch with the people. Her focus is mainly the downtown area, which makes complete sense for someone who lives and plays in our wonderful downtown. Although the very bouncy, cheerful, sunshine that is Lady P has requested that photo’s of her not be posted, but look out for her at the next city function taking pictures. She may even ask to use your photo in her very popular blog. And for goodness sakes, if you have an event coming up that you think us locals should know about please contact her. After all her info. is likely posted that day.
