Let it Snow

Yes we here in the Seattle area have been getting all kinds of grieve lately about our recent snow storm, or rather, ice storm. I don’t remember ever having an ice storm here, and I don’t ever recall any other time when everyone swears that they were driving fine, but no one else was. Good times, good times. Now it seems that all is back to normal, so I decided to create a Treasury to represent the snow, and all the wonder of the season. check it out here.

Happy Cotton Candy and More

Cute, Cute, Cute, Cute, Cute! I saw this cotton candy cutie on the cover of Stuffed Magazine a while back and fell in love. Scrumptious Delight lives in Vancouver Canada by way of the UK, and prides herself on the finishing care she puts into her plushies. Plush You here in Seattle had the opportunity to interview this talent. You can see that interview here. You can see this lady has a great vision and idea of what she wants her product to look like. And let’s face it, it’s gonna make you smile.

High Five….Turkey!

And the winner is………………….. KB! Who is the crafter behind Kokoleo. I just love this tee. Not only is it a classic hand turkey, it is actually the kids hand, and what a way to showcase it. You can see her whole tutorial on her blog, “a patchwork world“. While your there you can check out all the other amazing things she’s doing. KB recently moved to the Seattle area by way of Los Angeles, and boy are we happy to have her crafty self here. Congratulations KB, this post is for you. :D

Poe & More…….

Mike has been an artist in the shop for about a year now and we just heart him so much. Not only is he a wonderful Dad to his baby and side-kick he also happens to be a very busy artist. Most of his work is of a darker Monster vintage. This Edgar Allen Poe Painting is my favorite although mostly he features many classic Frankenstein paintings and some that have been femmed up a little too. Everything from necklaces, patches, magnets, onesies, tee’s, and mirrors. definitely something for the Monster inside us all. Mike moved to Seattle by way of Ohio with his lovely wife a couple years back and we are happy to have such an amazing artist and person here with us in the shop. Mike’s work can also be found at other boutiques throughout the Seattle area including Diamond Tattoo right here in Renton.

So it’s Stitch & Bitch Sunday here at happy delusions where if you don’t know already, you are invited to come down and join in our little stitch fest. And as always, I feel it only right to bring attention to some amazing stitchers out in the world. Today I’d like to let everyone know about Mandy Greer. I was first intro’ed to this lady while watching handmade nation, which if you haven’t already, go watch this documentary by Faythe Levine. It’s what got me do to my sweet PBR latchhook, that I’ve had such recent success on. If you’re in the Seattle area get your booty down to Roq La Rue before May 7th and see her rad chandeliers at the “Lust Life 2″ Group Invitational, and support our local galleries and artist in them. Mandy is one of the women who can take her vision and really put it into a piece that will leave your eyes to hours of wonder and enjoyment. So much going on, so much detail, so much fun, and so much work. Way to go girl. I literally have dreams of her work in my shop windows. I mean hey, a girls gotta dream. :)

Yarn Bombed Bus

OMG! Is this not the coolest thing EVER! I just came across it on this blog, Visual Culture.

Artist, Magda Sayeg covered a bus in Mexico City with yarn. She has yarn bombed all over, including Seattle in 2006. Click here to see what she did, and be sure to check the website for more of her amazing craft. I mean seriously those are a done of Afghans on the sides of that bus. Seriously crazy, and I love it mucho.

I heart Indie Crafts

Join me and 25 other indie crafter’s this Sunday, March 7th from 12-4 @ Lake Street Bar & Nightclub, for the I Heart Indie Crafts Show! Cassandra is to thank for this wonderful event and opportunity, she has been doing indie craft shows in the Seattle area for years, and is most commonly recognized for putting together I Heart Rummage @ The Crocodile Cafe. She is now expanding out to the east side, and Kirkland is the place. Although anyone who knows me knows I rarely leave my corner of the world here in DTR, I’m actually gonna get in a car and schlep some wicked awesome goods to the event and showcase some of my amazing crafter’s! So please remember to buy something handmade and help keep our local economy alive. KLife, Kirklands online news, did a story on the Show and happy delusions. Check it out here.
