Craft Swap!

CRAFTswap Sunday, September 26th from 1p – 4p. Happy Delusions, 924 S. 3rd St. Renton WA. 98057.

One person’s old stack of craft supplies could be another person’s pile of inspiration! Bring any used or unused craft or art supplies and swap them for FREE!!!!

Remember when you were gonna start making jewelry, but then found you weren’t into it. All that supply you bought will be perfect for someone else, just think you can snag up someone else’s yarn because really you just want to knit. Oh wait! I think I’m talking about me. So I know what I’m bringing, and hoping to take home. :)

Any supplies left over at the end of the day will be donated to our local Salvation Army. Think of it as a great way to clear out space for supply you might actually use, instead of hanging on to those trinkets that you haven’t been able to get rid of because you know they could be perfect for some craft that you’ll never do.

Suggestions of things to bring; fabric scraps or remnants, scrapbooking supplies, rubber stamps, kids crafts, craft storage, beads, jewelry supplies, yarn, thread, stickers, sewing notions, anything that might inspire or be used in handmade crafts.

And be sure to let Me know if you bring something to swap so you can receive a $5.00 gift card to the store. Oh yeah! You win twice when you come to happy delusions.

Oh, and be sure to give a great big hug to Kelly of tomato tomato design + print because this wouldn’t be happening without her, and she’s basically one of the biggest rockstars I know. Thanks Kell!

Tie purses and more…

I am loving these tie purses by Trizanh. Anh has traditionally done knit purses, and recently started experimenting with more. Although I do love her knit purses, The tie ones just stand out a little more for peeps needing that extra flair of personality by way of accessories. Anh’s beautiful knit bags are a perfect size for a night on the town and have nice soft colors that match the smooth texture of the yarn. Either way you really can’t go wrong because all of her items are made with lots of love and attention. She lines all her purses and with nice fabrics that compliment the outside. She even goes as far as to include nice cell phone pockets. What a nice lady.

Stitch & Bitch

Finally a place for us in Renton to come together and bitch with some hip peeps like yourself. Weather it’s Knitting, Crocheting, Needlepoint, Crewel, Latch-hook or just good ol’ fashion Bitchin, you are welcome to come join us. Every Sunday 1-5pm @ happy delusions in the heart of DTR. This Sunday, March 14th will mark the first one, and we will continue on from there. There will be some people here to help you learn if that’s what you need. We will also have some yarn, needles, and hooks to help get you started until you can get your own. It’s gonna be the hottest thing to hit Renton!

Pabst Latch-hook!

Okay! So when I first heard about the Pabst Blue Ribbon art show and contest, I wasn’t sure I was even going to enter. Now 3 weeks later, I’m convinced I’m gonna win! Tonight at the Mars Bar in Seattle is the Submission Party. I got it done just in time. This was an interesting and challenging project for many reasons. The hardest part was actually creating the pattern. Latch-hook is a very fun kitchy thing to do, and I recently watched “handmade Nation”, where this lady makes her own patterns, and I thought, I can do that. I did it! I even had to cut all my own yarn and I love it. Being that this is the first art contest I have ever entered I really don’t know what to expect. The only thing I know for sure is that this bad boy is Awesome. More importantly it challenged me and gave me a fun goal to work towards. So get online and check out all the other entries here, and stay tuned to find out if I won.

Yarn Bombing!!

Yarn Bombed Tree

Yarn Bombed Tree

On Monday two Guerrilla Knitters from Renton went out and participated in a world wide Yarn Bombing! The goal was to knit or crochet a cozy onto sometime. These two ladies decided on the tree outside my shop. It was awesome. The tree looked great and all kinds of people came out to help and watch. I personally had 3 people tell me that seeing the tree made their day, as it did mine. About an hour in, the parks dept came by and let the bombers know they had to remove all yarn and was incredible rude about the whole thing. the two ladies were calm and decide a few picture were in- order first. “The Man” left claiming that he’d be back in an hour and everything better be cleaned up. After reviewing the consequences the artists decided this way there form of art in action and really had brought the community together to talk over the last hour. No, no they would not remove they’re contribution to the arts of downtown, instead they bounced on out of there. All day people were admiring and adding to the peace bombed yarn tree. Sadly, it was taken down by authorities at 9am the next day. But not before making the top post on grrl + dog blog spot. It’s still number one, check it out here www.dneese.blogspot.com, tons of yarn bombers all over the globe participated and this tree is definitely one of the best. Go there to see more photo’s, also check out www.madlycreative.blogspot.com to learn more. I even think it popped up on www.allaboutrenton.wordpress.com. So no fear my guerrilla knitters of Renton, you may have been caught, but how fun and your message will live on forever in the world wide web. Hold your sticks proud ladies!
