Let begin the year with some art walks. Tonight I will be headed down to Pioneer Square’s First Thursday Art Walk. Yes, it’s technically the second Thursday, but it’s January people, and no one wants to head out to do anything on New Years Day! So this month is the exception, deal with it. Then tomorrow, I’m staying local in my own neighborhood for the resurgence of the DTR (Downtown Renton) Art Walk, now Art Eruption!!! Which will be happening throughout DTR the first Friday of every month. Again, I realize this is the second Friday, January, get it, okay. I haven’t seen any of the art that will be here, but I do know that Liberty Cafe is involved, has an amazing artists, and has been one of downtown’s anchors who’s been doing art since the olden days with me over at happy delusions. Go support your neighborhood art scene. And if you are an artists of any kind, remember to support other artists as well. It’s important people.
FINALLY! Geez, it only took me like 3 years of talking about it. Worth the wait people, well worth the wait. Done on a reflective background in the Euro-trendy style. Because as you know the City of Renton is “Ahead of the Curve”.

November 26th, the day after Black Friday, is the Second Annual Small Business Saturday… when people across the country come out and shop to support their favorite local businesses.
As most of us know Customers begin the holiday shopping season on the Friday after Thanksgiving, known as “Black Friday,” in which many “big-box” and chain stores offer very low prices on a range of goods. During the frenzy, people may forget that their local businesses are fighting to compete with these prices and attract enough business to stay afloat.
This is a reminder of the awesomeness that is small business and a challenge for you to Join your neighbors this year by showing your moral and economic support for small businesses in your area!
Swing into happy delusions as we will be having punch and cookies to celebrate the big day, and don’t forget to stop in the other small businesses in DTR.
Happy New Year Everyone! Wow! What an awesome holiday season we had here at happy delusions. Our 4th and Best December yet! Thanks to you all who have been wonderful supporters of the shop. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So here we are at the beginning of what I’m deeming to be the best year ever, 2011. Last night a group of us head over to the Whistle Stop to help create and vote on their newest beverage, The happy delusion. After 13 rounds of trial and error, some very inebriated friends finally decided on a drink we all loved. Thanks to Jeff, Perry, and all the Whistle Stop staff for an amazing night out with friends, and for having a drink in our honor.
Now it’s your turn to get involved. Go over to the Whistle Stop and try “The happy delusion”. It consists of Southern Comfort, Malibu Rum, Lemon Vodka, Midori, Sweet & Sour, and a splash of sprite. Garnished with a lemon and served on ice in a pint glass or up in a martini glass. How amazing does that sound? After you try “The happy delusion”, be sure to enjoy some of Whistle Stops fine foods, then come back to the blog or let Jeff and I know what you think on the happy delusions facebook or Whistle Stops facebook page.
This coming Saturday, December 4th from 3-5 along the streets of Downtown Renton come enjoy the Dickens Carolers! They will be in full Victorian attire, and singing all your Christmas favorites. While listening to their lovely sound, you can warm up with some hot cider and roasted chestnuts. All for free thanks to the hard work of the downtown events committee.
And be sure to stop into happy delusions during the festivities for our holiday party! We will be serving cookies, and wine for your enjoyment as you shop for presents for everyone on your Christmas list.
Then at 5 be sure to head up to the Piazza for the arrival of Santa Claus, and the lighting of the tree. So much fun for the whole family! Can’t wait to see you Friday!
It goes down tomorrow people! FREE games, prizes, popcorn, and trick or treating along the streets of Downtown Renton. Party goes from 1-4 in Main Street Square. Enter on Main between South 2nd and South 3rd streets. Basically just across the street from Uptown Glassworks and Venus Moon.

Midnight Forest
The 5th Annual Downtown Renton Art & Antique Walk is finally here! Tomorrow, Saturday August 28th from 11-6. This will be my first time showing my felt creations in the event. I will be in front of happy delusions along with the very talented Jennifer Brooks-Owen. DJ Corporate will be spinning beats during the festivities, and a good time is sure to be had. Don’t miss out, the streets of South 3rd will be filled with Art and Artists, starting at Main Ave and continuing up all the way to Safeway! Then at 6 at the Renton Civic Theatre Rentons own EriAm Sisters will be performing. The whole event is FREE! Woo Hoo! although there is a suggested $10 donation to see the EriAm Sisters. Finally a place for us in Renton to come together and bitch with some hip peeps like yourself. Weather it’s Knitting, Crocheting, Needlepoint, Crewel, Latch-hook or just good ol’ fashion Bitchin, you are welcome to come join us. Every Sunday 1-5pm @ happy delusions in the heart of DTR. This Sunday, March 14th will mark the first one, and we will continue on from there. There will be some people here to help you learn if that’s what you need. We will also have some yarn, needles, and hooks to help get you started until you can get your own. It’s gonna be the hottest thing to hit Renton!
On the 5th day of December happy delusions gave to me, 4 yummy cookies, 3 cups of juice, 2 glasses of wine, and 1 awesome holiday party!
And I know you don’t want to miss out on all the fun. So join us from 4-8 for some holiday cheer, and great local shopping. We have paired up with all the fun happenings in DTR. Starting at 3, Dicken’s Carolers will be strolling the streets singing and dressed straight out of a Dicken’s novel. Roasted Chestnuts, and Hot Cider await your cold hands, and a special performance by our own Captain Terry and his Salvation Army Band. Then be sure to head up to the piazza for the tree lighting and arrival of Santa Claus himself. Hurry to get a good spot in line at the Santa house, where you can take a photo with the jolly fellow and download it online for free. Then come back down to warm up. Oh so much fun to be had, I can’t wait to see you here.
Be sure to get down to the Whistle Stop tonight for their silent auction. This is a great event, all proceeds go to help their longtime bartender Fran raise money to help pay for all his medical bills. Not only has he had to take time off to deal with leukemia, now he, like many in his situation, are struggling to pay for the outrageous bills, that come along with the stress of being sick in the first place.
