"Kathy" 2010

Zac Freemanstarted making assemblage artworks of this type in 1999. Not only do I find this to be totally RAD, but the artworks are made entirely out of collected junk, found objects, and general trash. Gluing the bits of junk to a wooden substrate to form an image, usually faces, which only can be seen at a distance. Zac is interested in communicating through visual representation in apparent 2-dimensional space and through the actual objects used for the medium in 3-dimensional space.

"David" 2010

“It is very important to me that I incorporate the actual objects into the art as opposed to a picture or rendition of it because it better expresses the intention of the artwork. I feel the junk is more powerful being present. It is an actual thing to be reckoned with that existed in this time and place and carries energy in and of itself.” – Zac Freeman

Latest Treasury is complete. That’s completely out of your Gourd. It’s the fall and I love all the fall crafts, especially all the fun Gourd art.

Hey gang. It’s that time of year once again and happy delusions is hoping all you loyal customers will take a few minutes and vote for us. In 2008 you voted us The Best Gift Shop in Western WA.  In 2011 we’re hoping to reclaim the title, so please help us out. It’s only a few minutes of your time, but it means the world to us. Here’s a link that will take you direct to our page. Yes you have to register, but what a great way to start vote for all the other favorite places you want to see take the award. Small business is in a hard place right now no matter what the business is, so please remember that your vote makes a huge difference. Thanks!

We couldn’t have done it without all you amazing people. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m thrilled to have been in happy delusions for 4 years! Wow! What a time, what an economy, what an awesome community of customers, artists, and experiences. I wouldn’t change a thing. Y’all have been great. So come down and celebrate with us. Have some cake, see some art, and go home with some cool goodies. It all happens this coming Friday, Sept. 2nd from 5-9, at happy delusions of course.

August is here, and it seems that summer is too! Finally. And to celebrate we have Jennifer Brooks-Owen back by popular demand. This time she comes at us with something a little different. Although I suppose we always expect something a little different from this one.

Jennifer Brooks Owen is a multi-media artist residing in Renton Wa.  Her work ranges from handmade glass jewelry to multimedia paintings on paper.  Jennifer has received her art degree from Oklahoma State University in illustration and was awarded the Universal Limited Art Editions (U.L.A.E.) internship in New York City.  She served as an artist assistant to Elizabeth Murray, Carroll Dunham and Jane Hammond as well as master printers assistant at U.L.A.E. Jennifer moved to Renton in 2004 and has been exhibiting at Happy Delusions since 2009.

From 5-9 This Friday, August 5th come in for some wine, tasty treats, art, and meet this amazing artist. I know I’m excited to see all the new vibrant floral pieces Jennifer has been working on over the last couple of months. It’s going to be a grand time for sure, I can’t imagine a night with Mrs Brooks-Owen being anything less than fantastic! See ya there.

Stumbled upon this amazing artist this morning while browsing some of my favorite websites. Johnny Yanok is colorful, carefree, charming, and fun. What a treat. I’d love to find out more about this one. So cute!

The latest on the treasury list, Mask the Truth. Because we all wear different masks when dealing with different people. And I don’t want to wear the mask with you.
